Ash Wedensday is the first day of the Lenten season. It is a 40-day period of prayer, fasting and repentance leading to Easter. It marks the start of the spiritual preparation for Christ's resurrection observed at Easter. Church choirs will unite to bring selections representing the season. The imposition of ashes on the forehead will represent humanity's need to repent. Rev. Dr. Lewis E. Logan II, pastor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, will deliver the message.
